2002 Mercedes Sprinter 416 2.7 cdi

Postby catman15 » Tue Nov 06, 2012 10:03 pm

I have a Rimor motorhome using the above engine which, I believe, uses a Bosch ED15C6 ECU. I'm interested to try to tune it for better fuel economy. As a newbie, I know very little, except that the connector to communicate with the ECU is a 14 pin under the left hand dashboard. I assume that I will need to get a jump lead to convert to the 16 pin standard OBD connector ? Then I can use a tool to download the current map. After that I need some software to look at that map, and a lot of knowledge which I don't yet possess in order to interpret the data which I believe is hexadecimal addresses and values. Any suggestions, particularly hardware/software for downloading/analysing/rewriting without spending a fortune will be welcome.
John.

Hi speedypat, no progress yet, it seems no-one is reading this apart from you, I'm a complete novice, I get the impression this is a forum for pros rather than enthusiatic but uninformed amateurs. Hope to be proved wrong though !

If you like some help you need to post your original map, post your findings and ask questions.

OK RPM Freak, thanks for the tip, so first I need to investigate the best tool for downloading existing map. I did say I'm a beginner !
