Any special procedures to read/write keyless cars ECUs?

Hello all,

I would like to know if there are any special/additional procedures involved, when trying to read or write ECU's from keyless cars, like the Renaults Laguna or Megane by OBD?

I'm asking because a friend of mine has a keyless Renault Laguna (2005 or 2007 model, I can't remember...), that works with a card instead of a key.

It has the 2.0 DCI 150HP engine and he had it remapped, but the place where he went, left the car with too much torque for the clutch/gearbox to handle, so now he's having tons of problems because of that... So he came to me for help, because he wants to flash the original file back to the car, and maybe do a softer remap or change the torque limiters, but in order to do that, I need to identify the software version in his car, and I've never done that or even read a keyless car before...

Are there any special/additional procedures to doing this? In a normal car, one would turn on the ignition, without starting the engine, but here, how does it work? Can I just plug the "keycard" without pressing the start button, and the ECU will wake up, just by having the "keycard" plugged in? Can one ID/READ/WRITE in this way?

If anyone could help, I would appreciate it.

Who ever made the 1 remap can make e detune. The tuner can flash the original back for the customer, so there is no need for you to temper whit the ECU.
Maybe you are after the tuners maps :?: Little copy/paste to an other car :oops:

Nope, you are wrong ! 8-)

I do not need this file to "copy/paste" to another car ! :lolno:

First of all, I'm just doing this to help out a personal friend of mine! Second: I've told you guys that the remap in this car is wayyyy to aggressive and is not working ok and screwing up my friend car's clutch and gearbox ! :(

Why would I copy such a remap to another car? One f***** up car with this remap isn't enough for you ?! :lol: For me it is... ;)

Since the car was first remapped by this company my friend went to, he has the following troubles: spark plugs and injectors, then he got them changed, coded in a Renault official dealer, but still he went back to tune his car and now again with the problems, but now it's the clutch and gearbox that are suffering... So I guess it's pretty obvious that my friend can't rely or trust the company that remapped the car, that's why he came to me.

Anyways, I've already got the info I needed and earlier today, I already read the car's ECU without problems ! ;)

Now I just have to get the original file and flash it back into the car... Already opened a topic to see if anyone can help!

No special procedure, but the engine coolant temperature has to be below 50°C to allow programming.

That's true

anyway leave the car to the original tuner to have a update as he has the matching original and just reduce torque is easy
it's aftersales service i think they not charge money for that so why to do yourself with clone ....
you can corrupt the ecu and then that tuner should no more help you and you have then to pay a new ecu to your friend that you was helping for free ???

I see where your friend coming from but without sounding rude get a lot of customers that come for remaps who ask for performance remaps that are then surprised there cars can't handle the extra strain I do a few companies who advice against but customer always right at end of day,
I would agree though the actuall file for car would be better then a matching sw and hw number one as some cars could of had sw updates from dealer or something daft like that.
Plus with those depending in tool after writing it reprogrammes injectors this could be a bit of a worry with a clone mate
Had it in past doing a favour bite me in the arse end up costing me to put right

I have a renault keyless/card system and all you do is put car into first gear but after this dont hold clutch down. Then insert card all the way in and press and hold the start stop button until there is a flashing red light on dash. Now the ignition will stay on for half an hour long enough to read and write too. If you don't have to insert your card into the dash then simply follow the above but no need to insert card.
