My MPPS is not a cheap China tool,as I said it is an EU tool. and also i believe not all China tool are cheap ones.
equally knowledgeable fellows can do argue on this matter. As a beginner still I dare to say:
MPPS may be more than enough to read, write and to recover this particular ECU if it is brick. Unlike other EDC16 ECUs, EDC16U1 has no difference of its OBD or BDM reads that are exactly the same identical files. So does not matter if it is OBD or BDM read. Writing an OBD read on BDM may cause problem, but not vice versa e.i there would not be a problem writing a BDM on OBD.
There are also many other discussions that KESS fails to read and write some of EDC16U1.

MPPS fake in any form does not make it safe, but it's your choice, crazy as it is, and you are wrong about BDM write on an MPPS....
I don't think you are looking for advise, I think you just want to tell us your view....

Good luck!

I signed up for to get some knowledge from experienced ones who are happy to share their knowledge with others. I am here not to buy a tool or to buy knowledge.
Let me put it in an analogy, I am, lets say, asking if my used VW can go over 200 kms/ph, and, lets say, one car dealer says a brand new BMWs or Mercedeses would even go over 250 kms/ph, and i should buy one of those brand new BMWs or Mercedeses.
In fact i have already a car of my choice, but I dont know if it goes over that speed, if it can i would try that speed. the person probably knows whether a VW can go over 200 kms/ph, but prefers not to say (no obligation to say of course), instead whenever I ask to found out it the same car dealer again and again says a brand new BMWs or Mercedes can go over and i should buy one of them.
If so, then I would say I am happy with my veteran VW, and Good luck with brand new BMWs or Mercedes that are for sale!
Thank you

Who is selling anything??? You ask about MPPS and you don't like what I told you....
In your analogy: your VW won't go over 200 and you don't have the tools to make it go over 200, my answer was "buy/borrow better tools" No one is forcing you to play with your car.....
Because you don't like the answer don't shoot the messenger.....
