BMW BOSCH EDC17 CP09

Tools used for ECU reading and writing

BMW BOSCH EDC17 CP09

Hello there,

I am struggling in finding any information on successful use of this driver or tool for that matter. 2012 BMW X5 35d has DDE8 and TC1796 chip inside. I was trying to figure out what tool would read and write this tricore chip.
Some people say any genuine tool would do. This is not true!

Because of the cost I am forced to search further and ask for help. This is the closest information I got and I am not sure if is correct. One tool manufacturer recommended "K-Tag 156...P156" family. I am trying to decipher what this even means. Another question is how someone knows that DDE8 unit is actually EDC17, is it?

I hope someone will have more information on this.
Thank you
