BMW power reduction

Postby postbus24 » Tue Apr 22, 2014 4:28 pm

Hi all,

I have a 99' e39 530d which has normally 135kw but is in the factory limited to 120kw.
This nice  option code is called : $843 - S843A POWER REDUCTION

My question: can this engine be remapped to its original 135kw ? Or will the ecu cut all additional power ?

regards,
Bart

I guess you can remove this option and then re-program ECU with fresh software without reduction option. Should not be to hard job for experienced person.

some forum says that u can do this by reconfig ecu eeprom, without reflashing.

and then check if quantity of fuel and boost are increased ( compare to data before mod.)

Maybe you could change your VO with ncsexpert, and remove that option.

Ecu can be reprogrammed with actual version of 135kw soft by SSS Progman, IstaP or WinKFP (uncheck "Fast baudrate" option in WINKFP).
You have 2 choices. As it had been written before, you should change your cars ZCS with NCSExpert (E39 doesn't have VO) and then run session in Progman or IstaP and determine correct ZB and programm it.
Changing ZCS is the right thing, but you need calculator for this. My post count should be 3 now and i can upload it for you later.
But i doubt about determining right ZB in programms above. It exists BMW document for changing ZBs with new style HFM mounted after 2001 and it had to be done manually.
If you specify what transmission does your E39 have I can upload this document for you here. Then you can easily determine what ZB you need for your car and type of HFM mounted in. You can even upload 142kw version (LCI E39 530Ds built after 9/2000). I think it is worthy.
