It is now,
the first 1/4 to 1/2 of the last tank was with the older map too, so hopefully this tank may make it over 600.
Do you light foot it when your speed is reached?
I creep to the 30, or 50 limit then keep lifting off and balancing my foot to achieve the least pressure!
I'm the guy that scrapes the last bit of sauce from the bottle with a knife, yet while its full I'll cover my plate and not eat it!

LMAO!

Yes I try to be light footed everywhere I go.

On motorway I try to stick to about 65mph - 70mph and I anticipate traffic ahead and use the gearbox to slow me down, use the brake less.

It looks like I have closed my vanes in this map and not opened them as Juice has correctly pointed out to me. I will now open them instead.

I increased the figures instead of reducing them. Whoops!

I am learning every day that is what is great about these forums.

Juice has helped me loads already and is a top guy! ;)

I loaded the map last night and just been out in it to test. Engine didn't get up to full 80-90 as it was just out to the shops, but...
It now feels a lot more responsive with N75 < 10% (seems a lot less lag) so I presume this is the reduction in back pressure! Yay! :)
Boost is lowered is top left block, Lambda is a bit smoother ( I think, will check), but the realtime mpg is crap, but I did alter the DW so below 40% and <2000 rpm it is lowered 10%.
Maybe I'm chasing something I cant achieve with the speeds/distance I commute. I should just be happy that a tank of fuel lasts about a month, but if needed will annoy a Gti :)
I would just love to see that 600 on the dash before the light comes on.

Yes the car does seem more responsive with the reduced n75 settings.

I have driven 302 miles so far and the 3rd segment went out = 22.5 litres t went out so 302/30 = 13.42*4.54 = 60.93 mpg....

So far so good.

Decided to change the DW back to standard, and lowered the boost a little more in the 2000-3000rpm area, and N75 lowered 15%(=6 to 9 delta). I'm still getting (with the onboard mpg) increased consumption. :(

In regards to the lambda, at high loads the changes I've made are very noticeable, but on lower loads.....
Is it best to allow a little more IQ for better burn, or limit it to say 14 or 15 IQ. Will it actually work like a limiter that much??

I have simply left IQ alone as I cannot even find that map on mine and adjusted the lambda as linear as possible. I have now driven 390 miles and the half way mark has been reached. 390/30 = 13 * 4.54 = 59mpg. Well happy so far.

I will try another map up my sleeve that has a leaner burn with regards to lambda and the fuel rail pressure tweaked.

Just filled up.....

Drove 470.6 miles and put in 35.96 litres.........

470.6/35.96*4.54= 59.41 mpg.

Very happy with that! For quite a big lump of a Picasso
:D :D :D :D :) ;) :P :P

As some people say.... Wel Jel
I've just written mine with slightly higher IQ in the lower lambda range and 900-2250 set with boost like the 1500 line with little tweaks nearer 20IQ below 1500. With N75 10% lower in EGR area. So we'll see what happens in the morning. I really need to log it as the display seems to fluctuate the mpg up/down a bit, which may be the n75 not quite right :?
I'll send ya a file private - it may be of some use

So to get this right..........

If I lower the smoke map iq values by 10% this reduces the lambda by the same amount in the excel spreadsheet you sent me.

Does this mean then that by lowering the iq value for the smoke map = better economy as there is less diesel injected???

Is this like a load map then?

I cannot find a map that equates to a load map i.e 100% throttle = x Amount of fuel injected at x RPM???

Can you find this on your map?

Thanks for the spread sheet Scoppack it is very very useful. :D :D

The only map I know of is the lambda one.
I tried lowering the IQ in the lower region, so it may limit the amount injected, but it either didn't work as it did at the upper end or it made it struggle with lack of power (I've fiddled with too much I don't remember)

lower the IQ, the AFR is increased, and the actual lambda value is increased. Lambda 1.17 (I think) is 17:1 AFR, so .9 would be maybe 14:1 AFR (rich), and 1.3 is lean.

But someone pointed out before that it shouldn't rely on the lambda/smoke/IQ limit as it will lag/backpressure.

The threads I'm following at the moment are, this one, EGR effects, and the JTd economy.
