I, am pretty new to this site, and this "world" of remapping.

My case:
I have a 2004 passat 1.9tdi with edc15p+ ecu..
It has an abt chip installed instead of the original 29f400 chip, but the effect of the chip is very small..

My question are: Is it possible to buy a 29f400 chip somewhere, and just solder this on the ecu instead of the ABT chip, and then map the new chip? or is it totally impossible?

Its not only the phisical chip. You need to load it with proper firmware, or your ecu will be just dead. :)

So the 29f400 is including more than just the 512kb bin file i read/write with mpps for example ?

if you think you can write any tuning file even from abt to your ecu and will be run like a sport car so you're wrong.

Black: I don't think it will be a sports car, but i know that an ordinary remap, will do much better than the aftermarket build in chip by abt.. ;-)

mate, buy a 29f400 eprom

write eprom on universal eprom programmer with your ecu soft and solder eprom on ecu.

job done.

and after that you could remap yourself.

To do it right, you need to read bought an then change maps in your ECU exaclly like the ABT was doing, then will be full success without any errors and it's easy to do it. I got too the ABT maps on my Fabia RS.
