This post contains advices how to gain chiptuning performance values of 117hp from this Bravo/Brava/Marea engine, using old school style, without computer.
So lets get started. If you have above mentioned engine (1.6 16v 103hp/144Nm) with aluminum air intake on top of the engine, then you are on the right page.
First of all replace stock spark plugs with Denso Iridium Power IK20, remove complete air intake with air box and install K&N 57i kit as per K&N instruction.
Next, get yourself a 2dcl of CPL Power Sport (red bottle) and change oil with oil filter (total is 3,8 liters) but add only 3,6 ltrs and top up with CPL.
Engine part is completed... now to under side... :)
Get yourself a fine exhaust garage and replace complete cat back part with 62mm DIA SS pipe, while removing/omitting mid box near rear left wheel and as back box install universal REMUS back box for vehicles up to 130kw capacity.
Drive your car vigorously for up to 500km to allow that CPL starts its purpose.
With this mod you can expect 115+hp and 150Nm at flywheel.
Ofcourse, after this mods you might want go further, and now depends if you want to stay NA or you want to go Turbo.
If you are going to sta NA, then do following:
- lighten your flywheel,
- install titanium cams, pistons and rods.
- replace crank bearings,
- remove complete air intake system and engine management system and install 4 carburators (each per cylinder) and adjust them properly.
This way you can achieve 130+ hp.
If you decide to go turbo, then find yourself old lancia delta 1.6turbo and take the turbo and ecu from it and install it properly on your car.
Power gains are up to 190hp with stock gearbox.
You can go further and your marea can become 4x4, if you take a drive train and transmission from alfa 155 4x4...
