Hello From Gulpen "Netherlands"

Postby mclain » Tue Nov 17, 2015 12:47 am

Hi..

I finally found some time to introduce myself. Unfortunatly you will have to do with the quick version, as i dont have time to list all my previous rides and so

Well, my Nickname is Mclain, but in real life i sometimes listen to Michel. As you can see i am from The Netherlands from a little town called Gulpen.
I'm 35 years old and i live here with my beautifull girlfriend and our dogs Ollie and Cooper.
Well.. I'm not a proffesional tuner or a ceritfied car mechanic. I am actually an Electricien. But after i graduated i went straight to the Technical service of a computer bussiness. I switched a few times, but kept this occupation for about 10 years. The last job was repairing desktops and laptops with partially Component level..
After that i kinda got fed up with my boss and made a carreer change. I've been working on cars almost all my grown up life, and i did some (chip)tuning whenever i got the chance. But mostly camshaft, flowing etc. I found a sweet job as a "student" Transmission repair technician not far from home. While i worked there, i started getting more and more into diagnostics. Especcialy with some electronics skills, the job was a little easier for me. I eventually worked my way up there with a vast knowlegde of transmission diagnostics and the ins and outs of programming them with factory tools or 3th party hardware/software.
I also learned myself some transmission tuning that came in handy there. But this is mostly GM with Hp tuners.
Because of my knowlegde of electronics & mechanical engineering, i can do the cool stuff like projects with standalone computer systems, own controllers, R&D for upgrading etc etc. I also did some engine tuning for some corvettes and offcourse my own cars with a standalone system. I want to learn more about tuning and i made i deal with my boss. We really needed a Dyno for the Transmission tuning (you cant tune a 5-6 shift on a 700 bhp corvette while driving), and i wanted to learn more about engine tuning and dyno's. So i decided to by a Dyno and he would make room for it and pay for power etc etc. In return he would get the chance to log several hours a month and everybody would be happy.
Unfortunatly he decided to change the agreement. I suddenly needed to pay rent, get an insurance so that when he would do a pull on it and the car would brake down, my insurance would cover every cost, and i would get nothing in return, because i was already working there, so i could do everything in bussiness hours.
So thats why i have a Dynocom 15000 in my garage waiting to be broken in. But we bought a new house with plenty of room to build a new garage with a "quite-room" for the dyno, and allot of room for all my tools and gadgets. And i am currently talking with a company that wants to offer me a job. Almost the same salery, but then for only 4 days instead of 5.. So that might be a good thing to do.
Like i said, i want to learn more about tuning, and especcially my diesel knowledge could get a jump, and there is one thin gin particular i want to learn. DSG tuning.. Man, do i love these transmissions. They are good to fix, easy to remove, and are wonderfull to put back together. Only one thing that remains, tune the .... out of them :P

So thats about it. Good night!
