Hello

I am from the UK, but originally from South Africa.

I have been into modifying cars since I got my first VW Golf 1100 LS, which ended up loosing its inlet box and getting replaced with a ram air intake. It had a 20mm lowering kit and Golf GTI style anti-rollbars which were tunable at the back and I was able to get the car to drift in a corner rather than front wheel slide.

I have had a black VW Jetta 1.8 CLI which also got a lowering kit, a tune and a free flow exhaust.

My prise is the 1998 VW Polo Classic which started life as a 1.4, was bored out to 2.0, GTI 16v head with gass flow, Garrett T3/T4 turbo at 0.8 bar boost, intercooler, 3" exhaust, upgraded front disks, upgraded clutch, long ratio gearbox (265km/h at limiter), 20mm lowering kit on Bilstein Shocks and Jamex coils, oil cooler, 17" rims on low profile tyres. 0-60 in 6 sec with lots of wheel spin. 240 to 260 hp depending on boost I was using.

Unfortunately the Polo had to stay in South Africa and my brother is using it, although it has been 'down tuned' slight to ensure it runs reliably.

I am currently driving a VW Passat 1.9 TDI 130PS. Even though the Polo was fun to build, but tuned by someone else, I do love to learn new things and I wanted to have a go at learning what ECU tuning is all about. Seems that diesel is a safer option for messing around on and learning without blowing engines, so excited to learn about the world of ECU tuning.
