How to know what version is ECU?

Postby Dinamix » Sun Jul 20, 2014 6:35 pm

Hi all, I started to get interested in Chip-tunning, mainly I know a little bit (finding some maps for EDC15 only). I wonder how people can know which ECU version is? How to know that it's (for example) Bosch EDC15, but not EDC16?

If For You can see Ecu you can tell buy shape between 15 /16

if its data 16 is is NM and 15 in IQ

simple way is to connect aby software to ecu and ecu will introduce himself with producer number.

Flashing software usually show witch edc it is.

But after some jobs u will know, what is in car by make/model :)

Well atm I don't have any equipment or to have in hands ECU. For now I am just downloading some original ECU maps and trying to look/find maps. That's why i am asking how to know having only original file (using Winols Demo) and sometimes it doesn't say version of ECU (for example , he knows that's it's Bosch, but nothing more) .

At the moment I am "playing with" WV Golf V 2004y and with 1.9 TDI PD engine. So i guess it's EDC15? (Althought Winols doesn't show that EDC15). Was reading example maps with the same engine.
