How do you use MPPS properly?

I do it always like this :

1.) Choose the Car and ECU Type
2.) Click on ECU-ID
3.) Read
4.) Tune the file
5.) Open MPPS
6.) Write the tuned File
7.) Done

Someone told me that you have to Close MPPS After ECU-ID, then Read the File.
And before you write the tuned file you have to click a second time on ECU-ID then close MPPS, restart it and then Write the tuned file

Which Version is the correct one?
