Launch Control

Postby JabawokJayUK » Wed Jan 13, 2016 4:17 pm

Has anyone got any experience of crteating a launch control function for an EDC16? I have a popcorn limiter @ 4999 which works great but would like to look into a launch control feature.

Any thoughts?

Depends on the edc 16. There is a thread on it here somewhere.

I have one on my bkd jetta. Just modified the drivers wish map and the drivers wish selector.

Thats really useful thanks.

it is the EDC16V2 from an Alfa 2.4JTDM. It has the automatic gearbox though so I would want to try and link the limiter to be associated with the depression of the brake.

How have you got yours?

Mine is a manual and is quite easy but is always active in first gear, regardless of brake or clutch depressed. Not sure how to do it on autos.

Post up your file and i can try and take a look later.

You do not need Launch Control on Automatic :))) I have a Jeep WJ 2.7 CRD softed up to 200bhp and when I launch I use Boost Launch Keep down your break and max out the gas until you feel that the turbo pressure raises and then you release and trust me it's better then a launch. My jeep make rear wheel spin :D

Its not like its a "life or death" feature, just a nice trick tweak :)

The trans is very good at putting down the power with the torque converter acting like a giant wind up toy taking the power and then launching the car. The Torque converter has a stall limit that as Casianoros describes provides a psuedo launch control but its not healthy for the unit.
