The admin is using the extreme remap daily ;)

They are two different kind of beast, the IQ84 and the IQ93. The extreme is more aggressive, from the bottom to the top of the rev range, it offers much more power. 8-)
It is a BEAST. Being a beast means that you have to treat it well. You have to let the turbo cool down after use, you have to wait carefully the car to worm up before giving it the beans, you have to be very sensible overall. To use the extreme map your car must be in very good shape. The extreme map gets maaaaaaaany Nm. The ML gearbox on the 406 is built for 370Nm. The extreme map has much more than that. If you get the extreme map, you have to account for a new (reinforced) clutch sooner or later.

The 84 map is of course more fuel efficient, still it'll boost lots of HP from the engine. It's a LOVELY drive. It is not as aggressive as the extreme, and probably the hardware likes it better. That said, if you go the 84 way you'll always wonder what the extreme looked like... and you'll never know.

So overall the 84 is probably a more sensible choice... but then not all things in life are logical, life needs a bit of fun!

I'd say go for the extreme, but then as always what matters most is HOW you drive... if you drive 4000 rpms all the time then 84 or extreme will not make a difference... the engine will die soon one way or another. If you drive sensibly and occasionally give it a blast... the extreme looks tempting

I have the Extreme 180+ map for a week now and I must say it is a lot of money for a remap, but I think it is worth it. :D
I have had 2 different 180BHP remaps on my car, but you can't compare them with the Extreme 180+map. And + it is, not only the car has much more power, I think 190BHP, but the engine is much, much, much more responsive and reacts on every small push of the accelerator. Power and torque all the way. Beware of your driving license.
I did not tried yet, but it is possible to get wheelspin in third gear!!! Wheelspin with a diesel, even some people call it a tractor, would you believe? 8-)
Besides that; when you read this forum you notice The ECU Team have a lot of knowledge of remapping, specially 2.2HDI so you know the remap is done by the book.

I don't agree with OdinEidolon the engine will die soon if you drive 4000rpm all the time. The car is made for it and 4000rpm is way below max. rpm. So no problem. The only problem that could arise is the clutch, but for now the clutch is still working well and the car did 200000km.

So make your choice.

Nico, I am happy to see you are going on strong with the new map. It really is the best you can get for this engine, lots of research has been put into it. And it shows.
Will you put it on a dyno?

The choice definitely has to be extreme i would say, i have been using the IQ84 map for several weeks now and its a pleasure to drive, smooth power throughout the rev range, power delivery feels much more natural than other remaps i have had on various cars in the past, but knowing there is something out there which gives the extra power i couldn't resist, i loaded the extreme map this morning and have only got the car warm and slowly driven a few miles but the one point i tapped my toe down in second gear i just grinned :)

The admin support has been excellent, knowing the admin actually drives a 2.2 HDi with this map it makes it easier to make the decision.

Thank you guys, nice to hear about satisfaction, that really means something ;)

Also few words about work and spend hours about tuning...

There are several SW an HW numbers, also maps are on different locations,
sometimes some map pack can suit another bin almost totally and most of time there have to be new map pack prepared.
Also maps are different in some cases (larger, smaller, etc...)

The job can variate for some time -+ for same ECU and same ENGINE based on desired tune,
wishes, and stages.

If there is a wish for pro tune - that's a lot of work that has to be done an almost every tune has different hours to be made,
and it can variate for some hours. Sometime it is easier, sometimes it takes more time.

Feel free to contact in case of questions.
