Need help golf 3 1.9Tdi VE project

Postby parrilha » Sun Aug 13, 2017 1:44 am

Hi guys, im a student of motorsport engineering at coventry university and i've been building a project with my golf 3 Afn engine but now i need some help with the remap. The list of mods made is:

-11mm plunger
-.250 nozzles(injectors with just one main opening pressure instead off pre injection)
-sachs racing clutch with single mass
-1.9 sdi cam
-gt18v
-55mm pipe work
-60mm exhaust
-FMIC
-Oil cooler with radiator
-PD130 intake
-3Bar Map sensor

Now i have some questions:
1-How much hp do you think i can take from this setup?
2-How much IQ do you think i need to achieve that?
3-Still dont understand how to mod N146 pump voltage map (need a help here)
4-How can i make new higher values readable on vcds?

Thank you!

Hi
Fine mods you have done, a few things I would add.
I would install a in tank pump from a 130/150pd, as then VE pump can run out of fuel at high rpms when injecting high IQ's (:
take the intake pipe from a PD150 just to get it in aluminium insted of platic
and ARP headbolts if you planning to go close to 2bar boost (:

1:
Power wise I would say around 190hp and 400nm? but then pumpvoltage and SOI needs to be correct ;) lots of tuning for this output, so just count on 170hp for a start ;) (but again donno how much the 11mm can deliver)

2:
Donno how much the 11mm can deliver, but I use the nozzles in my car with a 12mm plunger and I can inject close to 80mg/st (only doing 75mg/st because my turbo max will do 1,6bar safe) 11mm, I would say around 70mg/st? maybe even less?

3:
The pumpvoltage is your "Duration map" it tells the pump how long time to keep the control collor open to inject fuel, higher voltage, longer duration. BUT the pump also controls SOI, so the "SOI" is applyed before the pumpvoltage and therefore the SOI and pumpvoltage maps need calibration together. (look at how the pump works)

BUT the Pumpvoltage is also your IQ calibration map, so the IQ the pump inject is only messured by the calculated values you give it in the pumpvoltage. example at 4000rpm, 51mg/st is 4200mV. but if you change it to 4800mV you will inject around 58mg/st, but if the axis data is still 51mg/st, it will show you it inject 51mg/st at 4800mV.

But then if you just higher the boost at 51mg/st to go with 58mg/st it will now have the power, but then again you still need SOI ;)

alot of these ECU's I see tuners just "cheat" the pumpvoltage map. and do none extrapolating at all, just turn up all the values for 51mg/st (:

4:
You need to change the Diagnostic limit, which in your case is 51mg/st (2600mBar for boost)
This you will need to find out yourself, but have pm'ed you a link were you can find it (: (require some reading)

A good engine and ECU to start out on (:
