Hey all
I did a turbo swap into a 1990 Chevrolet Beretta INDY, with a few small changes and some effort, I made it work.
It is my first project car that I am making, and I would like to soon race my car at the local track.
Car: 1990 Chevrolet Beretta INDY
Engine: 3.1L MPFI LG5 Turbo v6. (Engine is from a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix McLaren)
Transmission: 4T60-HD 4-SPD Automatic (Transmission is from a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix McLaren)
Turbo: T25 with upgraded internals to T28
Intercooler: Universal 27'' x 7'' x2.5'' FMIC Aluminum Front Mount Intercooler Polished 2.5''
Thermostat: 160 degree Fahrenheit
EGR: Removed
Intake pipes between inter-cooler, turbo, and engine: 57mm diameter.
Fuel Injectors: Same as what comes with a Pontiac Grand Prix McLaren Turbo
O2 Sensor: Standard GM Single Wire narrow band.
Air Conditioning: Yes, Standard Beretta Air Conditioning System.
Exhaust: Straight pipe from engine to standard dual outlet Beretta Muffler, 2" ID pipe.
I am using the Beretta wiring harnesses, I am using the Beretta ECM.
The ECM uses EPROM chips.
I have the Grand Prix Chip Turbo, and the Beretta Chip
Beretta Chip Code: AUPC
Grand Prix Turbo Chip Code: AZRO
I have to tune the Beretta engine code to run the turbo v6 with a turbo, this is easier as the Beretta EPROM ran the LHO, the N/A version of this same v6 engine.
The Beretta EPROM needs to correctly display the speed of the vehicle on the speedometer in MPH. Different transmission means different Magnetic pickup.
What I know:
The Turbo Grand Prix EPROM runs the beretta engine in the Beretta ECM, it does display correct vehicle speed in MPH.
The Turbo Engine Runs with the Grand Prix EPROM with my boost set to a max of 11 PSI.
The Turbo Grand Prix does not operate cruise control or air conditioning, and does not operate the TCC, possibly something else.
The TCC lock up control in the Beretta EPROM code will work on the 4T60-HD as is, I wired it up to think its the 3T40 3-SPD auto.
I need to take the engine portion of the code from the turbo grand prix and apply it to the Beretta code.
The Beretta code will already have the A/C Control, Cruise Control, TCC control.
I would like, if possible, after I get this working, to tune it for a boost controller set to 15 PSI.
How can I upload the bin files? I have 3 bin files.
The Trubo grand prix bin, the Beretta bin, and the bin I have been trying to make.
The bin I made, i got it to idle, but when I try to rev in idle, it drops rpm and stalls.
I do not have any experience. I'm using tuner pro.
I can email the files to anyone who wants to see what I have accomplished. hopefully someone can help me out.
