Failed flash MPPS DPF delete

Postby generalemail1 » Wed May 15, 2013 3:01 pm

Hi

I have been trying to help my friend with a tune and now a DPF removal on his A3 170. (genuinely)
I purchased a "tuned file" for his vehicle and we flashed this to his car using MPPS without issue.
My friend was happy with the tune but the DPF has always been an issue on his car.
The DPF has kept blocking over the past 6 weeks so now we have tried to flash the vehicle with a "DPF deleted" file.

This DPF delete file was also provided by the tuner as a free gift for review purposes but was confident to be OK.

I tried to flash (MPPS) the DPF delete file this morning but it stopped almost immediately. (error message about contacting MMPS etc) The progress bar got to about 1% and then went red and the flash failed and the car would not start. (fan running, "brakes" alarm on dash)

At this point I thought I might be in serious trouble but when I tried to flash the car back to the tuned file - this was successful - car started ok.

I tried another time with the DPF delete file but it kept on failing just after starting just after security check perhaps 1 or 2 %

Could it be something simple like a a checksum? (MPPS should checksum anyway)

Just some additional information is that I also tried with a "volta 1.2" processed version of the tuned file and this also failed shortly after starting. (possibly 5 % progress)

Just to confirm

Original flashes OK.
Tuned flashes OK (mod)
Tuned + DPF off - fails (mod)
My Volta process of tuned file also fails
The car can be flashed easily after a failed flash with either the original or the tuned file.

Is this normal for the flash to fail part way through just based on what values are within the file? I might have thought that the flash would complete?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you.
I came back to edit this post because I had it confirmed on amother forum that it is a bad checksum (1 of 5 not OK in winols sound the same as you?)
Really apreciate you correcting it for me as I dont have it corrected yet.
Its surprising really because the company I got it from are a decent respected company.

How did you checksum it? was it winols?
I dont have the OLS299 DLL which is required.

if you get winols at least v 2.24 it has that checksum. Always as general rule , check checksum before writting anything
