Factors that influence a tune

Hey Guys,

I own a tuning shop in South Africa. We get our files from a company in the UK.

What factors can affect the way a map is written?

Fuel? Altitude?

Ive had a few instances where the maps provided will make great power in the uk, but rubbish power here.

Yes fuel can be a factor (but this depend on on what you mean great power her in uk rubish when with you in your country)
Have you been and see the same car mapped on dyno here then at ur home? Are you taking ur uk tunners word for the power incress he claims but really is not making??? And blaming it on ur fuel or attitude
There are all kinds of factor in play with you qoute here

It could be the tuner claim mad power that u will never see
Tunner may be claiming good gains form another company but itsnt a pro amd is missing limiters ect
Yes fuel can be so can air temp and attitude

So i think you need to be more open with how u show us eg on what you had done how do u no what power in uk to how u no power down in ur country

I agree, main factor is knowledge, after that comes time and attention tuner gives to files. Fuel, altitudes, temperatures afterwards.

Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

About the tuner promising big figures and not achieving, this is actually spot on.. Although he has done a few cars for me that make great power and drive well.

Ive actually tried another very well known uk as well, their files also did not make as much as other local companies.

Lets say that i was looking for a new tuner, i like someone from the uk because the times are similar. Who would you guys recommend? And what factors besides power should i look at?

Factors that influence a tune:

Air temp (higher air temp makes for less dense air in the cylinders, so less power is made)

Atmospheric pressure(lower atmospheric pressure makes for less dense air for the cylinders, so less power is made)

Fuel temp (higher fuel temp needs retarded ignition advance)

Fuel octane rating (higher octane rating needs more ignition advance, lower octane rating needs less ignition advance)

Engine state (original engine or engine with hardware changes)

When selecting a tuning company look at some of the cars that that company made and the opinion of the car users.
