My 306 hdi 2000. I believe was mapped when I got it.
It runs great. The only issue is the rf remote is missing along with the immobiliser code.
The ECU the car came with is a Bosch edc15c2 ( 0 281 010 551 / 96 416 066 80) which I believe was fitted to 306's from 1999/2003
I got hold of a ECU/immobiliser set (keys receiver ring etc) from a 2001 306 hdi. Which I believe was working when it was removed.
This second ECU is a Bosch edc15c2 (0 281 001 976 / 96 351 575 80) which I believe came fitted to 306's from 1997 to 2003.
Having fitted the new ECU kit. I am left with a few questions.
Firstly. With both my car and the donor car being sold within 6 months of each other surely the engine/injectors/sensors are the same and swapping in the ECU should leave me with a working car. Albeit with a standard map. This seems not to be the case, it locks/unlocks with the rf key. Starts and drives without any engine warning lights. But is severely under powered. As if the fuel is being limited by some kind of limp mode. - it will not go any faster than 50. In any gear. And takes forever to even get to that.
Secondly. Could I pull the map file out of my original ECU (which I believe is a re map) and squirt it into the replacement ECU without any issues? i.e. Does it matter that the 2 ecu's are different part no's or is a edc15c2 the same as any other and should take the map fine?
I'm Expecting the answer to the second one to be that the "compiled" fill file for one ECU can not just be swapped to the other. As the eprom's may be different and chipset firmware etc may differ. But the original file can be examined . The various fuel maps extracted and transferred to the map file from the other ECU, and then the altered file compiled and loaded onto the second ecu.
I have an kwp2000 plus lying around somewhere, but need to get hold of an xp laptop before I can read the files from the car.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I'm new to the whole mapping thing and am not sure how it all works ( do re map files contain just the fuel ignition boost maps etc. or are they a lot more. With chip firmware etc)
