Reset flash counter in Audi ECU

Postby CaptainPlanetHD » Mon May 18, 2015 4:33 pm

Hi,

I have a question;
After flashing my ECU with new settings via obd - the flash counter increases by one.
Is it possbile to reset this counter again to 0/0/0?

In my case it is a 2012 Audi A7 3.0 TFSI engine CGWB. ECU partnumber is: 4H0 907 551

would be happy, if someone can give me some hints.

Thanks,
Boris

If you using KESS can do it from interface tools. Process is automatically but take some time... :silent:
Programming on table don't rise that value

Hi,

thank you very much for your answer!
I understand by buying a KESS Tuning kit I should be able to do it over the PC-Tools - right?
What do you mean by programming on table? The Tuner did read my ECU then he requested a "original" I guess open? file and modified it then. After that he wrote it back into the ECU.

Thanks for your help!

Bye,
Boris

Reading on table by pinout, in this way yes, must open the ECU and read file. Only read this way giving you copy allowing recovery after failure - remember
But if flash counter have bigger value it will be not drop - unchanged

Hmm wait a moment, i don't test KESS programming via OBD in this ECU, must check available options.

Ok that sounds interesting. I did a deeper search - my ECU should be a Simos 8.5. The tuner who did the tuning told me, that there is no way at present to reset the counter. The question is now to find out if he just cannot do it or if it is really not possible at present time.

Bye

That can be some problem now for automatically reset. In manual way possible, but now have one more problem
- Don't have full original backup's
- Programming via OBD

Now possible get to it by two ways one will be hardfull - take back ECU to vigin state
Read now, all data directly from ECU. One more write and then again read directly and compare, looking for changes. Maybe that will be little easier way.

Market have some tools but not one provide this function for your ECU.

At start guys you doing mistake working by OBD. Very Risky and...

A7 beautifully car ah :-) Almost like RS7 heh :D
