Hi everybody!
Recently I have bought a Lupo 3L 1.2TDI which I want to convert into a manual transmission. Now it drives like a charm, however if problems occur with the 'automatic' part of the gearbox, the fun really starts.
So far I have bought all the necessary parts to convert the little beast but there is one thing holding me back from starting this project: The ECU needs to be modified so it knows it is dealing with a manual gearbox, otherwise the engine wont start.
This is what I have found out so far:
- The ECU cannot be recoded using VCDS because the Lupo 3L was originally never equipped with a manual transmission
- One way to do it is to get a hold on an original 1.4TDI file and modify that one with my Lupo's ECU data as a reference
- The 1.4TDI has a different kind of turbo/turbo control, so I need to be extra careful with that
- I need to find someone close to me who has MPPS or a similar soft/hardware solution to extract and write the data
I must admit I never did anything related to modifying ECU data, so regarding this I am a total noob.
Does anyone here want to support me with my struggle? For example, I can not see if a 1.4TDI file will be suitable for me, which maps to adjust etc.
When I'm a bit farther along the road I would also like to turn the EGR off, add cruise control, perhaps tune the maps a little for better efficiency and better running. But that's for later.
