Hi guys,

The following question came to my mind searching on the interwebs, while reading things about ECU, tuning, searching maps.

I got an 6k0906032AA ECU suitable for Seat Ibiza Cupra with engine: AYP of AQU.
You have another Ibiza Cupra R who has around 180 BHP, which has a 6k0906032AB ECU
The engine + sensors are identical.

I have compared the BIN files with one another and came to conclusion that they are not the same in terms of map placement.
Naturaly they are not the same because the power output of both ECU's is different.

The following thing came to my mind.

Can I flash the bin from the Cupra R to my Cupra ECU, and when I turn the key will the engine run or would it not work at all?

Reason why is: I got a fully specified map file for the Cupra R, and can't find any map pack for the Cupra

Most probably will not work. but you can give it a try. In case of failure you can recover ECU in boot mode.

i have tried this before, and it didn't work, the car keeps on switching off by itself. for what engines are these?

It is for the 1.8t 20VT engines.

Somewhere on an other forum i read that somebody was driving a Golf 4 GTI ECU with the bin of an Ibiza in it.
The ECU boards are exactly the same, it seems the AA or AB are differences in software.
Even the engines + sensing are the same in both cars equiped with this ECU's.

processor code can be different, pinout can be different, even if boards looks the same.
But like i`ve said, you can try to write other file. worst case scenario is that you`ll not be able to flash it by obd. nothing else.

As far as I know the processors are the same, pinout the same.
I'd give it a shot this weekend, just try before the ecu dies :roll:

Processor type yes, but not processor code, so pointers, DDPs and port mapping can be different.

As a conclusion, don`t use files from another hardware number on your ecu. You have best chances to brick them after flashing wrong file :)
