How is the wastegate on the turbo actuated? Vacuum or boost? If it is on vacuum does that mean that I can upgrade to a VNT ?

Yes, it's vacuum. If your car is a 110BHp, then VNT is almost plug'n'play.

But that means that I will have to make a custom remap to manage it properly. Has anyone done this mod before to a 110 2.0 HDI ?

if you mount a vnt turbo you will need to alter the control map for turbo or it willovershoot its target as the vnt turbo is more agressive.
