comfirmation for cause of smokey map

Postby courty89 » Thu Aug 13, 2015 12:09 am

Hi people,
So I seem to be a member of a large group of newbies on here, obviously at some point I was going to ask a question but I've spent a fair bit of time reading and watching and trying to learn what I can as to not seem to 'dumb' ;), tbh with the wealth of info free to find on the net it shouldn't be to hard to find your feet :D

Anyway moving on, I've been currently just learning with the winOLS demo and atm I'm comparing a stock and tuned map from what I understand to be a passat pd 130 edc15, I've acquired these from a friend who maps cars but doesn't write his own files, he told me before I got started that the tuned map is quite a Smokey map so after some comparing I think I have the main cause or just one of the possible causes and was hoping someone on here could confirm for me?

I've noticed that most of the maps relating to IQ have been changed to increase IQ and that the duration maps have incresed duration but the SO I map are untouched so there is an increased amount of fuel being injected ATDC, my understanding is that most of the fuel ATDC doesn't burn cleanly producing black smoke already so increasing the amount ATDC will only worsen this? Boost has also been increased but seems a lot more conservative, large fuel increase plus what seems minimal boost increase seems daft to me tbh.

Some vague figures for you
Torque limit map, max IQ, stock 56, tuned 64.4
@1900rpm
Smoke map, max IQ, stock 59, tuned 61.5 @1995rpm
Duration 1 stock @2000rpm&55IQ, 20.72Cr, tuned @2000rpm&60IQ, 25.19
SOI 9 12.24BTDC both 55+60IQ @2000rpm
Boost map, 2000rpm@50IQ+, stock 2325mbar, tuned 2410mbar
Boost limit, 1911rpm@980mbar, stock 2350mbar, tuned 2444mbar
SVBL, stock 2620mbar, tuned 2832mbar

I hope that anyone who knows what there on about can understand what my figures are, I know there vague :D

I also know this has become a bit of an essay for effectively one question so I'll stop here, thanks for reading
