Hi all

Yes - this post is closely related to the one steinkr posted in 2012, but I need specific answers for my project.

For a swap project, I am looking to modify the OE ECU so that I can run the Merc. OM613 engine + transmission without any other inputs from CAN or other communication.

Questions:
Is it possible to reprogram the ECU to ignore ABS and ESP? Airbags and comfort systems as well.
- What does it take, and does anyone have experience with this type of work?
In other words, I am looking to use powertrain and transmission without any other outside intervention.

The swap is being done where a whole car which is in good running condition is used for parts, so it is possible to move as much as necessary. I am just trying to get a perspective on what can be done, and possibly buy necessary equipment to learn to do this myself.
