I'm new to the forum I'm Toad and based in the UK Shropshire countryside.

I'm new to this area of tuning having left the motor trade many years ago.
I used to work with Lancia cars and had a little experience with remapping in the days of Eprom programming.

I now own two vehicles which I gather are very tuneable - Smart 450 and a VW T5 2.5TDI

I'd like to learn about what can be done with these vehicles while remaining very very safe.
I can't afford to destroy an engine so I'd only want to make very minor tweaks.
Ideally I could do with getting some original maps to play around with.
Again ideally I'd like to put the Brabus map on my Smart 450 to start with while ensuring I have a backup of my existing map.

What stuff do I need, I've just ordered an OBD2 - USB cable but I don't have any software or example maps yet.

Who can help me out here?
