I have kind of given up the original ECU thing...
I have now received a Boch Motorsport ECU.

Hey there! I'm really sad that you've given up on the original ECU 'cause I could really use a help on the same problem! I have the engine and full harness from a 320CDI (OM613 engine) that is supposed to be running on an off-road buggy. Prior from installing the engine on place I want to guarantee that it is going to work fine, or at least start... The engine will take the original automatic gearbox with it, so maybe 1 less problem to deal with. So, according to the previous posts all it needs to start is:

1) Immo off (immo EEPROM read, write new file)
2) Gearbox connected (keep every wire from gearbox connector to ECU, discard others??)
4) Power ECU + everything else
3) "Park" signal (CAN message needed or is there an actual ECU pin that can be toggled for that?)
4) Crank it hard!
