STARTUP COSTS?

Postby DIYGYVER » Wed Mar 11, 2020 2:40 pm

Just curious as to what you fellas have invested. It is becoming more apparent to me than ever that this is no place for a novice. The industry strongly turns away attempts at hobbyist level programming by forcing massive software suite purchases and tool purchases. Seems to me that you have to decide to start a business to be able to afford to tune your own vehicles. Am I missing something?

What have you got in it?

for tuning your own car you can use clone tool because if something goes wrong its your car...but customers car is another thing which is why original tool is needed

if youre gonna do this as a job 5000eur is not really that much if you look at it its like 20 stage1 in my country

if youre gonna buy files and not make your own slave tools are much less expensive, you can get nice slave for about 1500-2000eur and buy files from your master

Best Regards

Shoot the only thing I want to do currently is keep this old pig on the road. Added horsepower is a bonus, at this point. not a requirement. I think what I currently have should work for me then.

Well, for a business, if you already know how to tune, without thinking about hundreds/thousands of hours for tuning files development, dyno Time, or damos/FR study, around 8k euros or so, that includes a tuning tool, winols, few damos, etc. If youre going for a business where you dont actually tune AND Buy tuning files already made, then you only need a slave tool, and a good provider and that really Is about it, a battery charger for safety. Depends on what you actually want to do. As a.hobbyist for new ECUs theres very little support without going yto non-genuine tools atm. You gotta Pay to play
