where would one typically get bin files

Hi

i'm new to ecu hacking/tuning and would like to get my feet wet analyzing bin files and trying to piece together lookup tables and parameters.

How would someone who wants to do something like I do get bin files from? Do they just post on a forum requesting model? Is there a repository somewhere? Also, does looking up ECU manufacturer help? thanks
