Ok so news time!
I've been to visit ecuedit aka Srdan, our admin, yesterday. He was extremely kind and helpful and I need to thank him
a lot. Thank you Srdan!
He made me save a good hundred euros on my injectors, which now are like brand new. The bad news is that my turbo needs replacing / repairing
We compared our cars which are exactly the same apart from the age and the exterior color. His is a missle above 2000 rpms. A real missle. Mine dies at 3000-3500 rpms, but it feels better to drive below 2000 rpms. Could this have something to do with the fact I usually drive the car in that RPM range while he drives it at at least 2000 rpms? We do not know. His maps almost does not affect the <2000rpms range.
He explained to me lots of stuff on how to remap, how to rate maps and how to compare them. He showed me why most of the maps that lay around for the 2.2HDi are crap.
Now I am going to start remapping my car. What to do?
Ok so I have Winols, you'll need it. It is the best software.
I also have my map read with the Galletto1260. It is also defapped using ECUSafe. This should be ok since ECUSafe works well on EDC15C2s ECUs. On other ecus this may not be good and defapping manually the file could be necessary.
Next step is locating all the maps and understanding what they do. This is the crucial and maybe the most difficult part. I open my file in Winols and press F. It will find some maps for me. This should be enough. But the maps require a lot of knowledge to be recognized as the correct ones. Winols cannot be miracolous.
Maps are indicated, in text mode, like this: (
correct me if I'm wrong please!)
MARKER, NUMBER OF COLUMNS, 00000, DATA, 00000.
Markers usually start with 50. One I found was 50022, if I recall correctly. From the number of columns, the data inside the map and the info you can gather from the web one can recognize what it is that that map controls in the ECU software. You have to select the right number of columns to be able to see it properly. All maps are seen in 16 bit mode but the EGR and TURBO switches which are in 8 bit mode. Many info can be gathered from these topics:
