Hello, when we try to remap an ECU, if it blocks what should we do?

And if I want to do an remap safely, without the risk of blocking what are your best advices?

Just my two cents here - No hard and fast rules, an ecu can 'block' for a number of reasons and have different ways of recovery (bootpin, solder, etc).

Best advice that covers the general consensus is take precautions whenever doing a write and know your ecu (i.e have already researched out a recovery strategy for your particular ecu type).

You will never ever be able to guarentee yourself a succesful write, so (especially where OBD is concerned) treat your normal choice of data access as a convenience, and have a plan for if things go wrong.

I know there's nothing specific in this response, but safe ecu flashing is more of an attitude than a specific action.

Common advice seems to be:

- use genuine tools (avoids risk of crappy soldering and you get someone to ask for help too)

- use stable power supply

- double check connections

- only write files that originally came off that exact vehicle

- follow software instructions

Yes, that's the basics. I've hearded somethings like sockets, I don't know very well, I think we have to put it in the place of the original eeprom. Have you ever heard about it?

Take a look over here, is that what I'm talking about, the socket. It has the 28 pins to put in the place of the eprom.
