607 2.2 HDi Injectors correction?

Postby defined » Sun Jul 21, 2013 11:34 am

Hello,

I have a 2001 Peugeot 607 2.2 HDi (4HX 98Kw) with automatic transmission. Anyway, I was driving almost a year with bad injector correction values (in PP2000) 1-2 injectors were bad, especially when cold. Now the engine started to smoke/vibrate alot, it has also high fuel consumption. So now I decided to go to the local diesel service and got ALL injectors checked. 2 were bad and got refurbished, new nozzles etc.. I also have a test page. However, I have put them back to the engine (with new washers, everything right...) And the injector correction values are almost as bad as before? (1-3 injectors are -+1mm3/stroke and 2-4 are about 0.50mm3/stroke at hot engine). I am not even talking about cold engine because it does still rattle as before. Especially heard when accelerating and when I take foot off the gas no rattle is hear. This also proves that it's injectors fault.
My question:
Can this problem be caused by wrong ECU edit? As it was reprogrammed once (also a year ago) by some local electrical specialists to turn FAP off+remove it.
Maybe there can be other causes?

Thanks.

Correction 1mm3/stroke is nothing. Corrections for this injector is OK up to 2mm3/stroke. Critical is above 3.5mm3. There can be more reasons for that. Bad low speed, bad back flow, and so on...

Injector can be perfect measured by test machine and test report can be also perfect, but you will still get bad corrections because of weak electrovalve at the top of the injector.

Your vibrations are probably coming out from different reason. What modifications you have done to your ecu? Make a read out of your ECU and there can be a cause because of bad injection duration calibration map.

If these corrections are normal, then why does it rattle at cold? I'm guaranteed it's an injector because it stops after releasing throttle.
The injectors were fully tested, including electrovalves, nozzles and "back flow valves"...
I have recently bought a Galletto 1260 just to disable EGR completely but haven't done anything. It's all the same as it was a year ago after those "FAP" deleting specialists. Don't know how they did it but there's no error on the dashboard but PP2000 shows bunch of errors regarding FAP. I'll upload the ECU file asap.

Thanks for the help.

It is hard to diagnose when i do not have logs to see. It can be anything.
But what i tell you that 1mm3 / stroke is nothing. Based on that values you can not say it is injector,
so values do not tell you that, but as i said it can be electrovalve on injector as well or anything inside it, it can be also pulled housing...
You can not make diagnose for injector with this low correction factors, you will have to dig more.

I had a case with correction from 0mm3 up to 8mm3 as well so i know when the difference in sound and running begin based on correction factors measurements...

Can you post Injector test report. Maybe low speed values are not good...based on that report i can tell you more.

Values should be close to the report that i attach.

As you said that the bin was edited, but you have bunch of errors, than i suppose that the tuner did not do the work as it should.
Once when you disable FAP system there should not be any errors at all --> about fap.

Post the bin and we will see.

I still cannot see any attached files. But there's my ALL 4 injectors test results:

My laptop's battery is still charging so I can take that bin out of ECU. :D

In addition to, maybe after refurbishing I need to reset ECU/program injectors to it or adapt somehow? It seems that something is wrong electronically...

Overflow is OK.
You will not have any pressure drops because of injectors...

Injector 4 is little bit different, very very tiny difference. For those tiny things you can use fuel diesel treatment - injector cleaner,
to get the injectors running more smooth, sometimes also fuel is as it is more "dry" - bad quality, this will help some.

Based on this report it is ok. Also your correction factors are ok. There are also some old school tricks to listen every cylinder  .

That's what i can help you for now.

Local diesel specialists really don't know what is that rattle cause right now. Maybe you have heard something similar?
HD video:

Currently I'm getting an "Errore data0" when trying to Read ECU with galletto 1260. Still trying to fix that up.

Thanks for help.

Hard to listen over video clip but it sounds like hydraulic valve lifter. But pretty sure that is not injector problem. Anyway, would be good to hear it directly.

But the sound is only when engine is very cold. Disappears quickly, and the rattle is very random (doesn't have sequence with firing every cylinder - what would have valve lifters or injectors). I'll be checking crankshaft pulley atm.

I'm attaching my ECU bin. I'd be very thankful if you could check it. Maybe there's something wrong? FAP should be off. I have paid over 100 pounds for doing so :D (a year ago)

By the way, I find editing ECUs/remapping very interesting to learn and try for myself but my gearbox has a torque limit of 330Nm (ZF 4HP20), while my engine is already producing 315Nm. Should I bother with it?

This is your ori, it is quite different than yours.
Fap is also not done correctly.
