EGR Close Question

Postby Alexis » Fri Aug 09, 2013 11:01 am

Hello,

I read here a lot of lines with an EGR close system. doesn't that create problems? I know from the oldschool vacuumcontroled EGR systems that placing a metal plate an exhaust side also worked pretty fine. Other solution where completly remove the system but then it was needed to fill more holes.

By placing a plate at exhaust de system keept working, without letting exhaust through.

Can someone tell me what the gain in power will be when the EGR is shut off? by old vehicles didn't create a lot of power, but drivability at low revs where far better.

I have a Carnival 2.9 CRDI 106kW und would like to tune that, and am in the moment trying to understand ECU tuning.

So 2 questions here:
1. Why should we switch the EGR valve off by software?
2. Does anyone know where I can do that in the map of my vehicle.

1. If you do not switch the EGR via software you will have constant DTC and limp mode.
2. You must post the ORI map of the vehicle and then ask for help.

@ RPM Freak,

I understand that I need to post a file for tuning advise, but for now I am trying to get information for doing it myself. I know my way around engines, just don't have real knowledge doing it all by computer if you understand what i mean.
