Torque Limiters

Postby ngrimmer » Sun May 05, 2013 6:20 pm

Hello, im at a early stage of learning to tune maps, im starting with edc15 first of all, and dde3 bmw.

Ive had to pay over the last 3 years for tuned files, and have a nice collection of Original and Modded files.

Ive spent quite a few hours studying the changes made by the Original files and Modded.

Im using a combination of ECM titanium and winols, i find ECM easier to identify maps to learn with.

Im getting stuck on the torque limiters, how much to increase them by and why does ECM displays up to 3 torque limiter maps.

And any views on percentage tuning?? this seems to be done very quickly in ECM

Any help please

I think I am in the same situation now you where some month ago regarding torque limiters. If you increase the numbers in the map will you actually move torque limit from let us as an example say 400 to 450nm? Sorry for a newbee question like this, but it is easier to ask than to do it and test several times.

Yes - but only if other limiters are high enough.

There is a number of limiters - the injection quantity is limited by the lowest one in certain condition.

For injection quantity there are torque limiters, smoke map, injection quantity by fuel temperature, wish map, and sometimes some others too.

i think you do not have 3 Torque Limiters but you have one 3D map ~21*3
Each of limiters for relative ambient pressure, for exampe 800, 900, 1000 mbar

This something I have been questioning.

If you just increase IQ, it will not be effective under all conditions.
What about SOI if more fuel enters the cylinder it must take longer to burn it all.

Still trying to work out how effective some of these maps are
