Hello to all chip tuning enthusiasts.
My name is Darko and I am from Slovenia. I'm mechatronics engineer and I have always been interested in automotive stuff. Detailed information about automotive electronics is very difficult to come by, so I find forums as ecuedit very good way to share knowledge and experience. Of course it's obvious that pro tuners won't publish their hard earned knowledge and experience as a whole here, since they make their living out of it. But now and then some new info comes along. It's probably not enough for commercial tuning but for enthusiasts who would like to experiment on their own cars it's more than welcome. By reading this forum one can get basic understanding of concept how ECU's operate. It's a very good start point, but as with everything else in life, one must try it by himself to gain proper understanding and experience. So, I look forward to communicate with all of you who share same interest in automotive electronics as me =) I only intend to use information on this forum for private use, to tune my BMW.
My current car is BMW E39 530d Touring with manual transmission. By now I figured out that ECU in this car is ECU15C4 that uses FLASH chip AM29F400BT-70SE for maps and EEPROM 95080 that contains immo info. At first I would like to achieve EGR delete. As now I had physically blocked EGR and I now get fault code in ECU memory since air flow of fresh air exceeds expected. Secondly I would like to preform immo off, since I would like to buy spare ECU for testing purpose. If I found out correctly, immo info is stored in 95080 EEPROM. Now I must find out what to change, that immo will be disabled. If anyone knows something about that I would appreciate some help. Below you can see some pictures of my E39, for some refresh from all this text. I like to keep it reasonably stock =)
