Hello to you all!
i'm totally new to this, and in need of guidance, ive posted this also in the introduction section, but it was probably a bit too much information in one go for that section! so here goes....!
i own a Skoda  Octavia VRS 1.8T and ive modified the engine to its peak! i keep changing various parts around trying to find the smoothest and most reliable power delivery but with this keep needing to have the car mapped again to work with the different turbo's etc, and its getting expensive (plus i'm at the hands of the tuner each time to do the job properly) - but one thing ive found is that really, i guess until the cars been for a good drive in different conditions you can never really get an idea of how good the map is, and i know from the feel of the car that it has floors each time.
so what im looking to do is try this for myself, ive downloaded winOLS and purchased the galletto 1260 and MPPS equipment (which to a newb i may have failed as they look exactly the same) is there any real difference?
I hope to learn a bit about the basics of Winols, what a checksum is, where to download different software and how to understand the different parts of the map and to what changes as i make adjustments. i know my engine inside out, what and where each sensor is and what they measure, but for me, id now like to understand how they all come together as a map.
ive read the Vagsuite guide that someone made up on the passat diesel engine and have started to understand how to make up the basics, but when i look in winols i dont see the list on the side of what each item does, its purely numbers everywhere with no description!
anyway, any advice on useful websites to look at etc would be a great help, mainly VAG based as myself and every friend drive them!
Thanks
Nick
