Tiptronic strange behaviour after remapping

Postby gdepre » Fri Nov 22, 2013 9:10 pm

Hi !

I just remapped my car with help of djbalkanac that I thank a lot.

Since the remap, I've got a strange thing with my gearbox (tiptronic on a VW Passat V6 TDI). Manual mode, no kickdown, when I'm at a speed of 120km/h (2200t/min), the gearbox goes back to 4th gear, and 3rd gear while throttle is 100%. If I put throttle at about 50%, averything is ok, the car is accelerating normally, staying in the 5th gear.

What could be wrong ?

Regards,

I'm not shure at all but i guess it could be relationed with the rpm's and decelaration. Tiptronic i guess is command by the ecu or some kind of intelligent system and probably the manual mode coordenates best when you change up the gear then wher you change down  I really don't know anything about the tiptronic system at all, i reply based on follow my logic

Masters should know the right answer certainly ;)

That problem comes when I start accelerating at ~120km/h, then the gearbox goes from 5th to 4th, and even 3rd (throttle 100%).

With my original bin (150HP), there is no problem, the gearbox has a normal behaviour.

You are requesting too much torque at low RPMs so the gearbox goes one gear down. V6 TDI are very sensitive on badly made torque limiter.

My guess is that in your mod file there is +25% on the torque at low RPMs :D

Thanks for your answer.

Too much torque at low RPM, does it has an impact when I'm at 2200t/m ?

+1 For this. This is the normal behaviour if the torque limiter is raised.

Thanks for your reply, everyone :)

Do you all know how much must the limiter be on thoses tiptronic gearbox (especially on 2.5 TDI V6 engines) ?

Have you got some clues to give ?

Hi,

many people doesnt know that even in tiptronic mode it does kick down. So when you floor it it goes 1 or 2 gears down. That is ok. If you want to stay in gear that you are in you have to stick shift knob in + and hold it there and floor it. That way you avoid kick-down.
