Problem or normal thing when reading ECU?

Postby sike_145 » Sun Dec 29, 2013 11:17 pm

Hi!

Every time when I read ECU EDC15C7 with MPPS or Galletto, received file differs. When comparing files, I noticed that there is some additional data in file every next ECU read. I think that start address of this data is 7F14E; data starts with 0x99 0x01 (01 means read attempt?) and ends with ten bytes of 0x20. Every next read there is new block of data...starting with 0x99 and 0xaa (where aa is read number sequence). After that data..there are all 0xFF until 7FEA03 where starts some other data.

Is this behaviour valid for this ECU and what ECU reading should I remap? Last one or doesn't matter?

So every time I read ECU file, there will be "log" in ECU dump?

Here are 5 files, downloaded from ECU one after another.

Hi, once, I have same problem, and then I use only first read file to work. But I try and other read file, car was start ok.
In the file, with every read you have a new checksum I guess, but why that happened with new line, instead of a over the old check, I dont know.

Hmm...now I have other question; is this extra data really in chip memory or it is added by some other component in path between memory chip and PC?

What about checksum? If every time when I read ECU data differs, logically will be that checksum have to be different. So, If I read ECU and than want to put the same file back to ECU...do I have to recalculate checksum or this will do software for me (MPPS)?

And some additional info;
When I look into someone others bin file downloaded on internet fpr same HW and SW version, I see differences after 7F150 address; in file downloaded from internet there is BOSCH_078 text in it...and in mine downloaded from car...is not. You can see that difference in attached picture.
Is it possible that files that I downloaded from car (via Galletto and MPPS) are not valid??

Sounds daft but have you tried opening the file in WinOLS? Just out of curiosity if or not the checksums are valid. Also, it may pop up with a notification as to why this is occurring.

I heard if the dump includes immobilizer data it can do this, not likely in your case but just throwing it out there! In which case you have to download dump, make changes and flash before running the car again..

But don't try that ;) I am only guessing

Hi, sike_145, I see again your files, you can take first one, ( 491-061-1.bin ) without problem, and use like ori file.
