My story about my golf 4 1.9 AGR

Postby henkyke » Mon Aug 27, 2012 4:33 pm

Hi,
I would like to share my story here, and get some advise.

My car details:

1999 VW Golf4 1,9 TDI AGR 90 HP

I am a totally biginner. And I made a mistkes but it could be avoidable if i start checking forums first.

1st i bought a Galletto 1260 froem eBay it come with 2 dvd with lots of maps on it (all of them scrap)
2 nd i have an Atocom auto diagnostic tool so i checked my car everythig was good on it it communincated with my golf ecu trough odbII with no problem.
Then my galletto arrived so i thought i flash one of the file from dvd to my car.
So i connected the Galletto to my car trough ODBII (i did not took out any fuse)
-Check ECU data
-Read ECU data and save the original to my laptop. (attached my original to this post)
-Than write ECU with one of the file from the dvd (attached it to this post)
It looks everythig is fine after remaping my car stated and work It is very strong but i knew that something wrong because when i speed up in lower rpm fine but higher RPM the car shakeing a bit.

So i decided to flash back th original file.
The main problem started here.
The galletto doesn't connect to the ECU trough ODB anymore so i could not flash back the ori file back.
I tried to check my car by the Atocom Autodiagnostic system but it doesn't communicate with my ECU.

So i started to looking for solution on forums and as far as i know at the moment I have to bench flash my ecu if i want to flash the original file back.
So i bought this tools
ECU Harness
I also bought a 12V Power Supply.
I took out my ECU
My ECU

Yesterday i tried to benchflash it but when i connect everything together and when i click on the ECU DATA in galetto it is working wile and no data comes up. only one times comes up some data but I think something is wrong because the data was onli lke that:
.......
...........
.....
............
.....

So i did not try to write back the original file because i am affraid that the galetto won't be able to write it back as it dont able to read the ecu data. Or should i try?

I orderd MPPS cable hopefully will be better.

As far as i know basic problem that i flashed on my car a different mod file so my car is AGR and the tune file what i flashed on it is ALH

Yes you have flashed the un matching HW SW numbers and locked out the ECU. Try flashing back the original on the bench it may work. MPPS will not solve this at all I promise.

The mpps can do bench flas too. So I will try to do it with mpps on bench. In recovery slower mode.

Post some pictures from the ECU. One from ECU cover and one from the inside.

The immo is a chip inside the ECU. You can do immo off or recode the keys to use the other ECU.

Sounds like bad checksums. This DVDs from eBay represents still a big problem to me. You buy for a lot of really bad tuned files which doesn't fit to your car as one ECU has different software versions and hardware ids. If you're loading one file for e.g. a AUDI A4 Avant 1.9, it might be not your one.

That's why prices for good files are much higher than cheap dvds from the net. That's the reason why I'm willing to learn it on my own.

no, Golf MK4/Jetta(Bora) has immo controle module in instrument cluster 100%. as it is 1999 year golf i am 99,9% shure it has IMMO2 which means ecu swap is quite straight forfard when you have vag com(VCDS). all you need to do is introduce new ecu to instrument cluster. no need to reprogram keys etc.

how to do it:
