Zetec Auto to Manual HELP !

Postby power047 » Wed Jan 08, 2014 9:05 pm

Hi.

Im currently doing a mk1 escort project which I intend to fit a zetec.

i have a 2.0 mondeo GHIA Auto which has done 41k running the EEC-V ECU with the PATS system. the engine is in good condition.
I intend to put the engine into the escort running the standard ford ECU system. I want to do this as its cheap, reliable and fast enough for me,

I think understand the issues surrounding PAT's system.
But
I am looking for advice on the issues which the AUTO ECU will cause for me as I am planning to fit it to a manual gearbox

as far as I can make out I know I need to swap the Crank Position Sensor Mount for a manual one.

But that's about as much as I know for sure.

I'm aware some Pins need changing/Bypassing/resistors installing to allow the car to start and rev in neutral/drive and to prevent the fans continually going. but i dont know which or where.

The engine at wont rev above 4k unless its in drive, will this cause an issue

some things i've read said it cant be done others it can, some advice on what needs to be would be genuinely appreciated.

Thanks

Oli.

i know with mk4 vw's its a simple change using ross-tech to change a auto ecu into a manual ecu with basic ecu adaption! should be something like that too i would guess with the fords....
