Golf 1.9TDI map on Polo 1.9TDI

Postby LexC » Sun Feb 02, 2014 5:41 pm

Hi guys,

Pretty new to the software remapping game, but have been tuning older cars and bikes by ear, smell and colour for a long time :D

When it comes to loading tuned files, what do I need to look for in terms of ECU numbers etc for compatibility?

For example, I am experimenting on my test car (2007 Polo 74kw 1.9tdi) and have managed to pull the file from the car, I am not comfortable modifying the file yet, but understand the fundamentals, would just like to spend more time reading maps before trying my own one. I would like to load the 96kw map from the same year model Polo 1.9tdi, as I believe the hardware is the same. ECU numbers are different though, is this an issue? Would it be best for me to modify the stock file? I also believe the same hardware is used in the golfs and Seat Ibiza's but they all put out 96kw, can I flash their stock file into my car?

Thank you in advance

Its always best practice to mod the file pulled from the car

Best thing for you to do its look at your file find the maps
Then look at the other file find the maps then compare and see what they changed in oem software to make the extra bhp ect ect

Thank you for your help, so would you copy the files that are different over to the original file? Drivers wish, all the boost maps, smoke map etc?

Thats cheating lol it may work, but what I was getting at is your see where they would alter data to make more power

you must consider tho a few things yes they may have changed x y and z to get more hp but has it got same injectors turbo same size maf is the clutch stronger? You have to make sure that yes u can change software to make more hp but is the hardware also able to make the hp with out breaking somthing

I agree, in addition though, if you plan to "borrow" SOI's and durations from another cars map, you should really only do so from a car fitted with the same injectors as your own. Also bear in mind the map will contain may other variables that may or may not be obvious using Vagedcsuite or winols.
Why not have a practice modifying a copy of your current map and post it to rate my tune before you upload it?
