Newbie Needing Help

Postby Andreamorim112 » Fri Feb 21, 2014 10:29 pm

Hi everyone, so, im new to this,i know what ECUs and Flashing is, but some other things im just not undesrtanding... like. The maps, are they compatible with the ECU? Or the car itself? Or both? If i have a 2.0 HDI and a 1.8JTD i cant use the same map right? I would just like to know that, and if someone could make me a small tutorial... Not on using the software or hardware, but the maps itself, not making them... Just knowing how the maps are compatible... To the cars....

As all of you guys have already been newbies... Because we can be really good at something, but first we were all newbies.. So if someone could help me.. It would be really good... Thank You.

Maps are not the same and are not exchangeable.

Cars use different ECU's (didnt look in your case exactly, you should). Each ECU uses different map, which may be similiar with a different car with the same ECU but every car needs to be remapped individually.

I suggest you start reading the tutorials from top to bottom.

It's not a walk in the park like someone would think :)

Despite i'm noob in this world, i would add:

Basicly in somesort they can be compatible, but there is big "BUT"

What do you mean "compatible" ??? if you mean some structure, eg. map adreses, for understanding or learnig purposes, then yes, but both must be same version eg. both edc16c39 (first in mind: Alfa JTDm, faund on later 147/gt and 159 models [same ecu in 1.9 2.4], but same Alfa/Fiat engine you can find in some opels, SAABS (named diferent).Same ECU itself will find in many cars BMW(not sure) ect.

If you mean "compatible" with reflashing porpose, so basicly No, again BUT:
Fist both same ECU version, then you need to know engine internals are same or atleast don't difer from each other much.
EGZAMPLE: Alfa had 1.9 JTD 16v engine (some call MJET as it MultiJet means 16v, 8v engines was UniJet, but not JTDm - MultiJet modifica) and these engines had 2 wersions 103kw(140hp) and 110kw(150hp) in 147 and 156, (GT only 110 version) models, internals of engine is totaly the same, so you can flash safety 140 version with maps from 150 version.
WW group likes very much to rip the customers for just factory remaping exz. SEAT 130 and 150hp is only factory remap, there is somewhere event used as exzapmle in one guide for noobs about remaping (map changes), alot of Golfs and so on.

Now what is fun and stupid or pathetic about these factory remaps;
Situation: Then peaple goes to REMAPER company and then they are not good informed, or not taking care to that, or just don't know or understand, that specific engine has already factory remap, they tune it just same like that, like that one wich was not repamed in factory. As you must already must found, basic repaming is ~30hp for -/+ 1.9 what ever engine, and that we get in that situation mansioned ? same seat with 130 -> 160 runing with no isueas, 150 ->180 smeks like hell and killing itself (engine)

Basicly, as xsashox siad: every car needs to be remapped individually, but there is always "BUT" :)
