Postby SteveMcSteve21 » Tue Mar 18, 2014 12:06 pm

Hi all

I m wanting to get a program so I can open/edit maps (more to open at the min), are there any free ones out there?

if not how much will I have to pay for some decent software?

Its not that simple as you put it out, there is no software out there that will open all maps for you. You get the software ex:Winols(to buy it you need to have a company), and then learn how to use it, you may purchase mappack for you file, load it into winols and you have all maps needed to tune with factors/offsets...., Still you need to know what to change and to what value, whats positive, whats negative, maps that are related with each other.

As for free software you can try http://www.tunerpro.net/

If you are looking to a one time tune to your car, i suggest you ask a pro tuner to tune your car, if you want to DIY, start reading on the forum, know how a modern diesel works, then look at some file, try find its maps and understand what map is responsible for X function of the engine.

hi thanks for your reply, I understand its not as simple as I first put it, I have purchased a mpps to rear the file from my ecu, but have no way of opening the file to even have a look at what I have to contend with,

once I have some software to open the maps up I can start to understand it a bit better, how does everyone get their software programs?

are they expensive to buy?

cheers

Well basic Winols is 1000e+VAT, another software is swiftec around 3000e+VAT, all this without checksum, as i said tunerpro is free, there are more ecm titanium, map3d.
