about checksum

Hello,

I’d like to require your help to figure out something about remapping.

I can understand turbo maps or torque limiters. While I can make required adjustment through maps in order to make the vehicle working according to that adjustment, I can not understand the “checksum”.

I mean I know what checksum means but I can not figure out why winols (or its derivations) need to make checksum.

I use the original master kessv2 and k-tag. When I look at the list, I see that kessv2 and k-tag are able to make checksum by theirselves for many ECUs.

Well, my question is that if I change only maps of a file that I made ECU read on it and load it without making checksum, does it work?

Does kessv2 make this job in place of me? If it doesn’t, why does it have a qualification such as checksum?

:?:
