Winols over ECM anyday

Postby cruise » Tue Jul 29, 2014 10:20 pm

Hi

I'm new to the chip tuning scene and am currently working on my first project, I have a large fleet of minibuses and with the ever increasing cost of fuel am interested in means of reducing fuel consumption. This led me to looking at chip tuning for economy.

I first purchased Kess v2, Ktag master and this came with ECM titanium full. I was led to believe this was all I would need for my fleet of vehicles.

Upon begin to use the equipment I soon worked out how to pull the file from the vehicle (easy part) and open it in ECM titanium, my disappointment came with the first vehicle, a ford galaxy (very popular in uk) no driver to support! Never mind next vehicle was a Renault Master, loaded file into ECM. Driver found, that's good will be able to have a play and test some different settings.

Don't worry, Before going mad and changing maps here there and everywhere I have read a lot of forums and guides so had a good idea what to look for.

Anyway loaded the driver for the renault and low and behold only half a dozen maps available, not nearly enough to modify the file correctly or confidently for that matter. So looked at the file in 2d view and started trying to find the maps myself only to find that I cannot do anything with the maps I find as this requires an add on product!!! And at £450 after already spending £7k on alien tech products I personally thought this was taking the biscuit!

I had already been looking at Winols and had been trying the demo version, I liked it although very involved and complex it works with no hidden charges. I have now purchased the full version of WinOLS and am working on the the Renault Master file. It is taking some time but I am slowly finding all the maps and am enjoying doing so.

To conclude, ECM titanium was some what of a disappointment to me, although I'm sure some have had more success, I will continue to try and use it with other vehicles and see if I have more luck but Winols is definitely the superior product in my view even as a beginner.

The one good use I have found with ECM is checksum correction once edited in Winols. Saves a lot of money on expensive checksum packs from Winols.

Thank you

My answer to your problem is to get good drivers for your fleet. No chip will newer make so low fuel consumption like a driver who knows his job.

About Winols over ECM any day - I agree with you.

I have tried, they have had training but at the end of the day the fuel isn't coming out of there pocket so they don't give two hoots!!!! The next best thing is to intervene via tuning I thought

I fell into the same trap, now i'm months behind getting to grips with winols
If i could add extra maps in ECM it would be great but i think my money will be better spent elsewhere.

winols you can make your driver yourself and decide what should been in the driver

if your winols is good programmed it also detect all the work that repeat and tell you what mods you can apply on your file

this is a small exemple ....
You do not have permissions to view the files yet. You have to be registered and you have to make at least 3 quality / unique posts.

So at WinOLS is possible to program scripts do make changes automatically at maps?

In this case for EDC16 file

Like your picture you posted one is EGR Off and what is FAP Off?
