Hello. I am completely new to flashing ecus so forgive me if any of my questions are rather basic.
I am new to the forum and am looking to remap my 206 2.0 HDI sw to get as high a fuel economy as possible. I have read that the ecu has to be a bosch unit rather than a siemens and I am pretty sure I have a bosch EDC15 ecu as another forum told me that if there is a bosch stamp on the fuel rail then the ecu will also be. Looking at some of the other topics on this forum, the ecu associated with the HDI engine is not only referred to as an EDC15 but has two further letters after eg EDC15C2. My ecu only has EDC15 on it so am I just being stupid or is there something else I am missing to further identify this unit?
I am looking to buy the hardware to map the car and from what I've seen the best two options are the MPPS V13.02 usb cable
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MPPS-V13-02-I ... 4d1d6b337f
or the UK BDM100
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-BDM100-Pro ... 27e72e31c5
I read that just using the usb cable through the OBD2 port can blitz the injector codes so the BDM100 is a better option since the ecu is removed but ideally the usb cable would be more suited to me because I have other cars that are suitable to be mapped using that hardware so is this a common thing and how can it be avoided? Or is there better hardware out there?
Finally, do these pieces of hardware come with the software to map the car, will I have to get separate software or is it better to edit the standard map yourself? And can they save a backup of the standard map so if all goes tits up it can be reverted to standard?
Thank you in advance
