Creating custom ECO/Sport mode on EDC16

Postby Rideen » Thu Jan 15, 2015 2:39 pm

Hey all,

For the past month, I have been thinking on a way to implement a switch inside a car that would switch which map the vehicle reads from ECU. For example, car could have 2-3 maps inside ECU (one for Eco, other for Normal and one for Sport mode) and you would be able to choose which map is being used by a switch.

Has anyone done something like this before? I am looking for any guidance on how could this be implemented.

My idea is that a switch could be connected to a kind of a microcontroller that would issue a command to the ECU from where to read the map, but I am not sure if this is viable.

I've just read this and wonder if it could be triggered by the dpf sensor?
The maps are already there, and triggered under certain conditions, so a switch to say the pressure is too high, and you have a new range of active maps? It could be easier to implement than rewriting the ECU code???
Whats peoples thoughts?

This is older post but I wanted to mention already available sport mode and DSC off button, so it's just matter of finding what changes when those are used and boost the values. It sounds doable. Let's see what experts have to say :)
