Finding the correlation between Maps and Axis data.

Postby The Silent Shout » Wed Feb 04, 2015 8:16 pm

Greetings all from sunny Australia :D

Ive been decyphering my ecu for nearly a year now, along the way learning things like hex, winols etc and ive come quite far.

However ive hit a road block of sorts and that is finding out how the ecu is reverencing the correct x and y axis data for the Map.

To preface the issue ill let you know what car im attempting to hack.

Its the barina sri with the z18xe engine.

Known as the corsa C sri (or gsi) in most parts of the world. It has a siemens simtec 71 which is nearly identical to the simtec 70 and also presents a very similar data architecture to the MS42 and MS43 ecus from BMW.

Traditional methods to find out which axis data goes with which map have failed as i cant see many indications before or after the maps to suggest any kind of pointer whether it points to an address or a data value etc.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Im going to upload my original Bin file as well as the XDF im working on currently. Now keep in mind this xdf is incredibly incomplete so DO NOT USE IT TO TUNE YOUR CAR for all those lurkers around hoping to find information :) dont make your car go bang.

also here is a link to my Great ECU Hack project so far on a local aussie forum. Im pretty sure you do not need to sign up to read it. you can see my progress there.

Ill post some information to hopefully help with my issue.

Ive found a range of 16bit axis data starting at address 0x0772 and after that there is a bunch of 8bit axis data starting at address 0x0DA2.

To help out here are some maps which have been identified with the help of others.

Injection table at 0x44BB
Spark tables at 0x3B93 and 0x3CB6
Checksum is 16 bit at 0x5EE0

Any help is greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance :)

EDIT: it wont let me post my .xdf file as its not supported. If you go to http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3929 and scroll through the pages you will find my xdf, Thats another forum where I requested help on how to discover maps etc.
