kwp2000 plus issues

Postby zetec » Sat Nov 10, 2012 6:04 pm

I have got hold of a kwp2000 plus i had some issues with the software but got it working in the end.
now i can get it to connect to my ecu in vehicle (bosch edc15c7 0281010346) and the software will display the ecu software number and ecu part number when i click Data, but when i click read it comes up with timing error.

if i click data read that and then turn off the ignition and turn it back then click read it will come up with block transfer then hardware error and it seems to be linked to the immobiliser allowing communications for the first couple of seconds then cutting off communications am i right or wrong?

would i need to use the master key that i have for the van or is it a case of bench reading/writing in boot mode?

any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Hi,

if slow mode doesn't work (it didn't for me), you can try removing your car stereo or any other aftermarket parts, these can make it impossible to read, or dash fuse #11 first (it tells you to anyway).

After removing the ECU from the car (or removing the aftermarket stereo), I could successfully read my ECU with KWP2000+ even in fast mode. If you remove the ECU from the car, don't forget to delete the error codes afterwards.

Strange, it could be bunch of things. Never had that problems, unless flasher was bad quality or bad connection.
Slow mode always worked.

i have already tried slow mode and it does not work and as far as i know removing F11 is for vag cars, this is a citroen so it controls the cigar lighter, clock memory, interior lamps, radio (supply).

just thinking is it a problem with the software as it will read the ecu data about type and software code but seems to stumble at the read stage with timing errors possibly down to problems with the dll in the pc software.

can anybody point me in the direction of kwp2000plus software that is known to work correctly?

just to add i did find a poor connection but i have replaced the connector and still no change

Same thing for me - and it's not the software IMO, but could be since you're trying to read a Citroen.

It would always start to read get the ECU info fine, then try to request data and then came "error setting communication timing parameters" or something like that and it quit, no matter what I did.

Directly connecting to the ECU with a bench flash harness worked perfectly, same software and everything else - a friend had the same problem and removed his aftermarket stereo and then it worked via OBD.

Seems there can be interference in the on-board electrics, on some newer cars even with OEM components only (read several times on german forums), which are removed once you connect directly or remove those electrics (pulling relevant fuses should also work).

little update i could not get the kwp2000+ to work so i purchased a galletto 1260 and hey presto it worked fine.
just a little note about reading on the bench if you remove the 5p08c3 you can read and write an edc15c7 but with it in place i could not get any communication with the ecu.
