I want to ask a few questions. First of all I want to introduce myself. I know you see I am in Canada, but actually I am originally from eastern Europe and now I am here. My cousin have a small garage with two lifts and he does all kind of stuff. Recently he damaged his computer so I had to reinstall all his programs(DAS, Bosch Esi...etc). I am a computer engineer and I was always interested and its my hobby everything around cars. So I want to learn step by step ecu flashing, remaking, cloning, dpf and fap removing. I read a lot of stuff and watched many videos online. Now I am ready to buy some equipment but I am not sure what exactly to buy. I am wondering if I get, MPPS V16, MPPS V13.02, BDM 100.
But I am wondering between FG-Tech-Gellato 2 and KTAG. Also do you recommend to have CARPROG V5 or no?
We will be doing mostly Mercedes, BMW, VW, sometimes maybe Peugeot, Citroen, Reanault. Opel also if I can cover the american GM(all), Chrysler, Dodge etc.
I want to have few hardwares so I can cover most ecu's. I also can manually remove the chips and fit them back so this is no problem.

I am currently also looking at doing something like this but I have no Idea what to buy and I just can't seem to find where to buy the right stuff as most of the things I do find I believe are clones and I don't know how safe they are.

For beginning you can buy a Clone from KessV2 2.08 and KTAG 2.07 and Galletto V54.
You can make all EDC16 and EDC17 with this tools.

BMD100 and MPPSV13 is better for Old Cars and the Galletto and KTAG can do BDM too.

When you have much experience with this tools and you flash 10x or more Cars in a week you can buy a Byteshooter from http://www.techtec.de/ this tool is the best and can flash current only the new Golf 7R but this cost with all modules 12000€

quite funny statements. 2.08 kess? look at the firmware in your link, it's v1.89 if you install newer software all newer than v1.89 won't be active. You can make all edc17 with this "2.08" kess? :))

ok take a look at the firmware. its 3.099 do you know how old it is and what current firmware is? you can run any software version 2.06, 2.07, 2.08 but you will have functionality of v1.89 because of old firmware and old protocols. can you make vw 1.2tsi? or DSG gearbox? or edc17c46 via obd? 3.0TFSI simos8.4? no, they are greyed out? for 2.08 functionality you need fw v4.036.

All EDC17 with old 1.89? I dont think so mate. Chinese cheating people to buy new kess 2.08, but firmware is still OLD 3.099(version 1.89) SO nothing new protocols activated. And quality is crap(kline problems and 24V not working etc)

Same cheating with Ktag, still old 1.89 version firmware latest 2.10.

BUT if buy EU clone, then all goes better. All working 100% like genuine. Wanna know more, please send PM.

I'm still thinking too what to buy. I am doing only EDC16 for now, but probably more later. Galetto was recommended to me, but mind is open for other brands.

I'm beginning. I bought MPPS V16 Chinese Clone. It works fine for Caddy 1,9 BLS engine with EDC16U1.
